Winship, Sneed & Andrade get Trapped
(Published in Planet JH Weekly, additional content added)Get ready for a rare treat when former members of old-time string band Reeltime Travelers—Thomas Sneed and Roy Andrade—join Ben Winship to pass around guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, human voices (and who knows what else) during an old-fashioned après-ski session at The Trap. Both obsessed with chasing the roots of traditional music, Sneed and Andrade met in the late 90’s while working at the Center for Appalachian Studies in Johnson City, Tennessee. Before splitting in 2005, The Reeltime Travelers went on to play the Grand Ole Opry and score music with producer T-Bone Burnett for the multi Grammy-winning soundtrack of 2003 film, Cold Mountain. Expect an afternoon of obscure old-time songs, lyrical instrumentals, foot stomping ballads and twists of tongue. Winship, Sneed & Andrade Trio, 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday March 14 in the Trap Bar at Grand Targhee Resort. Free.
