Ultimate guide to New Year’s Eve in the Tetons

New Year's Eve Jackson Hole 2012-2013 Late author Bill Vaughan once wrote, “An optimist stays up until midnight to see the New Year in. A pessimist stays up to make sure the old year leaves.” The tension will grow musical this New Year’s Eve with over a dozen concerts to sink your ears into. Here's what’s on tap.Town Square Tavern will stage Led Zeppelin tribute band, ZoSo, which has played a stunning 2,400 shows. The Pink Garter Theatre is offering a three-fer that kicks-off with a live stream of the Phish show from Madison Square Garden followed by Denver funk-rock quartet Fox Street Allstars and into the late night with DJ Vert-One in the lobby outside of The Rose. The Allstars are about to release their second album, Tough Talk. I'll be taking stage with Screen Door Porch (The Quartet). SDP leans mostly towards original music with a splash of classic Americana soul, roots-rock and country-blues. Special to this evening, we'll be playing a three-set show with hints of Terrentino among a fun and challenging batch of new tunes, 8:30 p.m. to 12:15 a.m., at the Silver Dollar Bar. Free. 733-2190. Don’t overlook the opportunity for a laidback New Year’s experience at Spring Creek Resort atop E. Gros Ventre Butte. Vocalist Nicole Madison and pianist Keith Phillips will dig into jazz, standards and show tunes on the grand piano in the lounge, 6:30 p.m. to midnight, free. 733-8833.Delivering classic and modern country music via the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar stage, Marshall Star will play to the valley’s quintessential dance floor at 9 p.m., $15. 733-2207. 
For those looking to ring in 2013 in Teton Village, a few solid options exist. Ten-piece Latin/Salsa/pop ensemble Calle Mambo will make a two-night stand at the Mangy Moose Saloon (7 p.m., Sunday, Free; and NYE is 9 p.m., Monday, $17; MangyMoose.com), while Eight-piece funk-rock band Mandatory Air will make its annual stand at Couloir Restaurant atop the Bridger Gondola (9 p.m., $50; JacksonHole.com), and Nashville singer-songwriter Isaac Hayden will play an early show, 4 to 8:30 p.m. in the Lobby Lounge of Four Seasons Resort (free). Classic rock tunes will spill from the Stagecoach Bar in Wilson where Whiskey Mornin’ will work towards staying true to its name. 10 p.m.; $5. 733-4407.
