The Goods (Jackson Hole Music July 20-26)

THE GOODS By Aaron DavisAcoustic and electric soul Anders Osborne is one of those artists who often flies under the radar. A deep blues slide player with a rugged, soulful voice and eclectic songwriting chops, Osborne has had a multi-faceted career as staff writer for Nashville publishing companies while also releasing seven albums and touring. Maybe you’ll recognize the tunes he penned for other performers, like “Watchin’ the Wind Blow By,” a number one hit for country superstar Tim McGraw, and “I Was Wrong” and “A Better Man,” both Grammy-winning songs from Keb’ Mo’s album Slow Down.Benyaro, a soulful folk duo that has been referred to by critics as an “acoustic David Bowie,” is literally a two-man band offering guitar and upright bass with their hands while playing kick drum, high-hat, and egg shaker with their feet.Music on Main with Anders Osborne and Benyaro, 6 p.m., Thursday, at Victor City Park. Free and all-ages. www.tetonvalleyfoundation.org.The Silent Comedy gets loud In the same company as Mumford and Sons and Edward Sharpe, tent revival-infused, quirky cabaret rockers The Silent Comedy offer yet another fresh interpretation of unclassifiable acoustic-electric music. Before starting the band in San Diego, brothers Jeremiah and Joshua Zimmerman spent part of their lives on a worldwide adventure that included travels through Asia, Russia, the Middle East, Europe and the entire U.S. The quintet’s barn-burning intensity fuels a theatrical live show that brings song and emotion to an overwhelming crescendo. If you’ve been looking to get out of the box, here’s your heads-up. The Silent Comedy and Saint Motel, 10 p.m., Saturday, Town Square Tavern. $10. WhatsGoodHereProductions.com.Congress in session Last spotted at the Knotty Pine early last winter, Denver-based The Congress has it goin’ on. The Congress, 4 p.m., Sunday, Concert on the Commons in Teton Village. Free. JHMR.com.This piece appears in Jackson Hole Weekly - JHWeekly.com
