Wylie evokes breadth of Western culture

(a portion of this piece was published by Planet JH Weekly)

It’s a testament to the music when a group has played the Grand Ole Opry over fifty times as Montanan Wylie Gustafson and his gang has. As yodeler, songwriter, rancher, horseman and famous “yahooer” for Yahoo.com, old school cowpoke cool is Wylie’s game. So forget everything you hate about new country and CMT, this is authentic cowboy and Western music. Just last week, the group walked out of a Nashville studio after recording their 20th album. They roll into Jackson to perform at the Journey School Gala and Auction (RSVP closed) as well as a stop at The Wort. Wylie & the Wild West, 8 to 11 p.m. at the Silver Dollar Bar. Cowboy, country-Western. Free. 732-3939. WylieGustafson
