The Goods: Hayes Carll, Benyaro EP Release, Nicki Bluhm, Band of Horses, Los Lobos and much more...

By Aaron Davis (for JHWeekly.com)Most jam-packed week of music ever? This particular week in Jackson’s musical history is rather monumental. The hand we have been dealt includes a batch of Grammy-winning and top-tier indie artists: Los Lobos (Mon.), Band of Horses (Tue.), Justin Townes Earle (Wed.), Hayes Carll (Sun.), Yami Bolo (Thur.), Chris Botti (Sat.), Diego’s Umbrella (Thur.), Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers with Benyaro (Sun.), Cave Singers with Lucy Michelle and the Velvet Lapelles (Fri.), Stone Foxes (Thur.), Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band (Fri.), Ferenc Illenyi & The Gypsies (Wed.), Grand Teton Music Festival Orchestra (Fri./Sat.), Bill Franklin’s NOLA Live (Sat.), Smooth Money Gesture (Tue.), Milk Drive (Fri.), Teton County Fair Concert with Mandatory Air and One Ton Pig (Fri.), and that’s only half the action. Carve out time to explore your options!Alt-country quirkinessMuch in the same fashion that John Prine connected with blue-collar country lovers with witty displays of making light of the quirky sides of life, Hayes Carll connects with his audience through introspective, yet seemingly off-the-cuff songs. Carll’s duet tune explaining how stereotypes of polar opposites really do attract, “Another Like You,” was American Songwriter’s No. 1 Song of 2011. That album, KMAG YOYO, was the Americana Music Association’s No. 1 Album in the same year, not to mention making Best of Lists for Rolling Stone and SPIN and a New York Times’ Critic’s Choice. He’s the real deal, and won’t be at this price point for much longer. 307 Live presents Hayes Carll, Sunday, at Town Square Tavern. Tickets are $10/advance or $15/day-of-show. 307Live.com, 733-3886. Gramblers and Benyaro at CommonsPart-time local acoustic folk/soul duo, Benyaro, will be celebrating the release of its third studio album, The Cover EP, featuring acoustic arrangements of songs from Sam Cooke, Etta James, Moby, Procol Harum, Blaze Foley, and The Coasters. The “EP Release Show” is a bill headlined by the vintage-tinged rocking country soul of Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers. Nicki and her husband, Tim, recently fronted the side project Brokedown in Bakersfield at Targhee Fest. Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers with Benyaro, 5 p.m., Sunday, at Concert in the Commons in Teton Village. Free, all-ages. JacksonHole.com.
