The Goods: American Royalty and TGR, Andy Frasco

By Aaron Davis (for JHWeekly.com)TGR delivers American RoyaltyBringing an unorthodox indie band that mixes dark garage rock, electronica and psychedelic blues-rock is a diversion from previous TGR release parties. Blending the aesthetics of The Black Keys and Thievery Corporation with an entrancing synth edge draws curiosity for seeing American Royalty in a live setting. A trio of two lead vocalists spread across guitars, synth, drums, and samplers, the L.A.-based group manages to achieve classic elements while certainly putting an original contemporary stamp on electronically textured, live instrumentation. American Royalty was featured in TGR’s latest, “The Dream Factory.” TGR After Party features American Royalty, 9:30 p.m., Saturday, at the Mangy Moose. $25, available at Jackson Treehouse in Teton Village or at TetonGravity.com. The premiere of The Dream Factory shows at 5:30 p.m. ($12) and 8 p.m. ($14) at Walk Festival Hall. Net proceeds benefit JHSC Freeride Program, Bridger Teton Avalanche Center and Yellowstone-Teton Clean Energy Coalition.Timberline revived via FrascoWord is spreading about Andy Frasco’s energized performances and over-the-top showmanship in Teton County over the last year or so. Having played a Targhee Fest after party, Music on Main and Town Square Tavern all in the matter of one month this past summer, he must be a fan of the Tetons as well. The 20-something rock keyboardist notes Damien Rice, Sam Cooke, Professor Longhair and Van Morrison as the artists that have made a lasting impact on his “party blues” style. After listening to tracks on his new album, Road Life Revival, add cabaret and stomp pop to that list. Savvy to the music biz, Frasco began managing, booking and promoting bands as early as 16 years old. After recording his debut album, Growth and Progress, in New York City at age 19, he toured the country with VH1’s Save the Music Foundation, raising money for music education in public schools. A self-described “revolutionary,” Frasco is on a mission to alter the music business as we know it. Having performed more than 700 shows in the last year, his research mode is full steam ahead. Andy Frasco and the UN, 9:30 p.m., Saturday, at the Timberline Bar in Victor. Cover TBD. 208-787-5000.
