There’s no better time than Now to take up a new instrument or seek additional instruction on your current instrument. Advances in brain studies point out that active engagement with music influences other development, especially with children and young adults. Whether you’ve been awakened by an inspirational piece of music, looking for a challenge, or aiming to maximize self-expression, there are local resources to take advantage of. The fringe benefit of having a strong local musician community is the resource well of music teachers, many of which are also performers. Instruction on multiple instruments

Feliccia has a studio on Deer Drive and has been teaching for fifteen with extensive training in classical and musical theatre. “I really love to help students discover their own voice and coach a wide range of vocal genres.”  Feliccia runs the performance arts non-profit called Big City Broadway, which also teaches classes and workshops.

Saxophone, Clarinet and flute

Strings

Music Therapy

Susan Jones/Music Together of Jackson Hole/Wilson Mountain Music; sunami11@hotmail.com. Jones’s Music Together LLC engages the youngest of musicians and their families through experiencing music rather than learning concepts and information about music. Classes are held at the Center for the Arts. Jones also teaches music in several pre schools and facilitates multi–generational music for all ages at the Old Wilson Schoolhouse every third Friday of the month.

Hilary Camino/Wyoming Music Therapy; hilarycamino.mtbc@gmail.com, 307-433-4207. Camino is a certified Neurologic Music Therapist with a background in Nordoff Robbins (creative-based) music therapy and has formal training in piano and voice. She has worked with clients experiencing developmental delay, stroke rehabilitation, trauma and sexual abuse, and other various learning, behavioral, social, and physical difficulties.

YouTube can be a great resource for gathering knowledge on any instrument, or for learning specific songs or styles. Also check out MusicLessons.com—a startup founded by local musicians John Pansewicz, Jeff Eidemiller, and Mac Munro—offering a filter for lessons vs. courses, ability (youth, beginner, intermediate, advanced, master), max price, as well as links to video and articles, and a “find teachers” tab.
