Batiste delivers ‘Nawlins soul to the Village
(Published by Planet JH Weekly)There are so many deep-rooted ‘Nawlins musicians in the Tetons this weekend, that a bonafide street party is plausible. Playing jazz and Big Easy soul, twenty-six year old Jon Batiste is one virtuoso within a long lineage of musicians from Louisiana’s Batiste family. Playing piano, melodica and singing, Batiste’s music is standout in that it’s precisely articulated, and he remains poised, yet dapper upon delivery. In 2012, ARTINFO listed him among the "30 under 30" most influential people in the art world. Batiste is also an actor and was cast in the HBO TV series, “Treme,” along with the Spike Lee film, Red Hook Summer. Jon Batiste and Stay Human, 5 p.m. Sunday at Concert in the Commons in Teton Village. Free, all-ages. JacksonHole.com.
