june 6, 2008 - The 3 R's, Yonder Mountain support & Open Mic Cancelled
April and May were all about the three R's – recharging, recording, and reeling. The recharging part was the most fortunate of all—trekking for the first time to Hawaii and Alaska for surfing, sun, king salmon and good company. The necessity to extinguish my laptop and cell phone were reaching code red and it was nice to give it all a rest.
Many rainy days this spring were spent in my 10 x 12 recording room, where I made some headway on the beginning of my solo album. The songs are written, arranged and beginning to take full shape, but there's a long road ahead. I'd say that a 1/3 of it is done. Damn, that's it?! It's been an engineering experiment, but learning a ton.
June is packed with music, and there are a few noteworthy shows I'd like to pass along to you. Check out the

OPEN MIC on Sundays at 43 NORTH has been CANCELLED. Yep, it sucks, but it's not the end of the road. There will be another. This is where I need your help...at what venue would you like to see a regular Open Mic? Please
contact me with some suggestions.
Open Mic has an important place in Jackson—it's where I got loads of stage experience as a solo player, where bands have formed, and is a general congregation of local musicians to share tunes and spirits. The demand for an acoustic outlet is still there. I'll keep you posted on the open stage revival and ask for your support when the time is right.
Until then, keep 'er steady...
