Glancing back at last year's calendar, it looks like I played 188 shows in 2007. By my estimation, that's 5, 610 songs, about 22,440 chords, and at least 89,760 notes, but who's counting? I'm shooting to get my notes under the 70,000 mark this year.
Spring is still on deck here in the Tetons—the 600th inch of snow fell this week on April Fools. The winter was full of pickin' with some great Jackson players, and the powder turns will forever spoil the soul.
I'm only playing three shows in April and a few in May, the rest left to regroup, have time to write, walk the dog, catch a trout or two and continue recording—some call it Roman Noodle Season round here. Before then, come join me from wherever you are to celebrate the end of ski season with Boondocks this weekend, Friday and Saturday, 4th & 5th at the Silver Dollar.
I'm hosting a couple of seasonal Open Stages at the Silver Dollar on April 18 & May 9th. These nights are usually memorable, when some great closet players come to jam. Also in May on the 23rd, Screen Door Porch will be helping Friends of the Teton River celebrate fishing season at River Rim Ranch near Tetonia, Idaho.
Summer is looking busy around Jackson Hole, and a Southeast Fall Tour is taking shape with compadre Nate Jones. Among the shows will be the Java City Concert Series at our Alma mater Western Kentucky University and Dreams Acres Music Festival in Pleasant Hill, North Carolina. If you live in KY, NC, SC, TN or GA, we'll be looking for some venue recommendations in the coming days, so give a shout if you got the goods.
What am I listening to this week? Really been diggin' the Rev. Gary Davis, M. Ward, Wilco, One Ton Pig, Bill Monroe bootleg from '80, Sun Kil Moon, Brett Dennen, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Woody Guthrie, and Amy Winehouse.
